How I Blended Jasmine’s Grey Hair Without It Looking Overdone
Previous Experience: Tried highlights to blend grey once before – didn’t like the result
Main Concern: Face-framing looked yellow and obvious, felt like “trying to cover grey but failing”
🔍 The Challenge
When Jasmine first came to me, she was feeling unsure. She had already tried a grey-blending highlight at another salon, but it didn’t feel right to her. The front sections near her face looked yellow, and instead of a soft blend, the colour made it obvious she was trying to hide her greys.
She said something that stuck with me:
“I just want something that blends in — not something that screams I did my hair.”
That’s when I knew – the goal wasn’t just about colour, it was about confidence and natural balance.
✨ My Process
I’ve spent years testing different foil techniques, and what works best for this kind of situation is 1mm micro-slice foils. It takes more time, but it gives a much more seamless, natural blend — especially when the goal is “done but not looking done.”
Because her previous colour had some leftover grey coverage that couldn’t be fully lifted in one go, I adjusted the tone. I used a mix of her natural tone plus one shade darker in selected sections. That way, it supports the regrowth but avoids any harsh lines or “highlight blocks.”

The blend now melts into her natural grey. We captured:
