About Sunny Sun Hairstylist: The Art of Authentic Confidence
My Journey: From Feeling Unseen to Celebrating Every Unique Story
Hi, I’m Sunny, an independent LGBTQ+ hairstylist based in Melbourne CBD. With nearly 20 years of experience across Taiwan, Melbourne, and London, I specialize in personalized hair consultations that empower you to embrace your individuality. My mission is to help you feel confident and authentic through a hairstyle that reflects your true self.

My Journey: From Feeling Unseen to Helping You Feel Seen
I know what it’s like to feel unheard in a salon.
Back when I was still learning, I tried growing my hair long. I wasn’t even sure if it suited me—but I wanted to find out.
Then every stylist around me said, “Long hair won’t look good on you.”
Next thing I knew, they cut it all off.
The haircut looked “nice”... but it wasn’t what I wanted.
And that moment stuck with me. I felt invisible—like my voice didn’t matter.
That’s why I do things differently now.
When you sit in my chair, it’s not just about cutting or colouring.
It’s about listening, understanding your style, and helping you feel seen, confident, and like yourself.
That’s how I decided my hairdressing mission is " help people feel confident"

Living My Values — from the Salon to the Camera

What I believe in—being yourself and feeling confident—it’s not just something I say in the salon, it’s how I live.
So when Daily Jocks asked me to join their diversity campaign, I was like, wow, this is exactly what I stand for.
Their message—be proud of your style, your identity, your story—hit home for me.
On set, I was surrounded by people of all shapes, backgrounds, and vibes. It wasn’t just about looks—it was about being seen for who you are.
For a year, I volunteered with Melbourne Haircut Aid, giving free haircuts to people doing it tough—and I even got a certificate for it.
But honestly, the real reward was seeing how much a simple haircut could lift someone’s mood and confidence.
It reminded me: Hair isn’t just about looks. It’s about dignity, hope, and feeling human again.
